About Tas Chainsaws and Mowers

Tas Chainsaws and mowers opened it’s doors at 210 Wellington St. Launceston in August 1994. The director and manager of the business Gerald Van Asperen started his apprenticeship in a small store in Launceston called Youngtown Chainsaws and Mowers. After 1 year he moved to Australian Chainsaw Products where he finished his apprenticeship and went on to work there unitl the middle of 1994.

After the death of the proprietor, Gerald together with his sister decided on a new business venture. This is when Tas Chainsaws opened its doors in 1994. Tas Chainsaws was always a well known name in the world of chainsaws, with Karl Goiser having the Stihl dealership for many years previously. He closed the doors after he went into retirement. Others tried to start a chainsaw shop in the same buildings several times without success. Gerald and his sister opened Tas Chainsaws in 1994 and the business still operates successfully.

Today, Tas Chainsaws and Mowers is still run by Gerald Van Asperen. He manages the business and works with 2 experienced staff to provide a professional and wide range of services.

Tas Chainsaws and Mowers service everything they sell. They sell all products that one would need in the garden including ride-on's (including the elite zero turn Walker and Hustler brand). Other ride-on's include the Murray and Cox. Lawn mowers include the Honda, Masport, Victa and Rover. We also stock STIHL chainsaws and brushcutters. We stock a wide range of blowers, vacs, stationery engines, generators hedgetrimmers, pressure cleaners, cut-off saws, pole pruners and more. The brands we deal with, include HONDA and BRIGGS & STRATTON. We have accessories and complimentary products for all our major equipment. This includes safety gear, climbing gear, axes and axe handles, WINDSOR and STIHL filing accessories and woodcutting needs, harvesting equipment and accessories, brush cutting accessories and much more.

More recently we have taken on a range of recreational motorcycles and ATV's suitable for children and young adults. We have a full range of spare parts for all the bikes and scooters. We stock and we service all the products we sell at our premises
